Sitting Pretty

June 2024 content release article

Why you shouldn’t underestimate simple moves

Seats can be an underrated category of moves in pole and aerial, often considered a beginners level skill, but they can so much more! This month we’ll look at combos including seats and layouts to breathe some new life into this beautiful basic.

Why you should use seats

3 reasons to use seats in your pole and aerial practice:

  • There are seats at every ability level, making them a super accessible skill category!
  • They can create a rest position or pause-point during longer sequences.
  • They can form the base of a more complex skill, allowing you to add on gradually.

Fancy a little treat for yourself? Check out the teachers tip section; this month Tamara Castle leads us through a stretch and stability sequence using the aerial sling.
